SUMMARY:Light up the Night Bike Ride 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Jefferson County Parks Department and the Jefferson County Health Department have joined forces with the Friends of Jefferson County Parks to sponsor the first annual "Light Up the Night Bike Ride" bike parade. This free fun family event will be held on September 7th starting at 6:30. Sponsors include Fort HealthCare\, Two Rivers Bicycle & Outdoor\, Abendroth Total Water/Culligan\, Fort Community Credit Union\, W & A Distributions Services\, Wayne Hayes Real Estate\, Heritage Country Meats & Paddy's. The start of the ride begins at the Glacial River Bicycle Trail at 1309 N. Hight Street (U-Haul) in Fort Atkinson. It follows the bike trail to Crawfish River Park and then returns. Refreshments will be provided at the turnaround. All participants will be able to bike the trail starting at 7:30. To make this event extra special\, sponsors have allowed us to provide free bicycle helmets to the first 75 kids who sign up\, free hi-vis T-shirts to the first 200 registrants\, 100 bike lights\, and more free giveaways.\n\n \n\nJefferson County Health Department and the Safe Kids South Central Wisconsin Dane/Jefferson Safe Kids Coalition will be on site to help fit helmets for kids and share information on bike safety. The Jefferson County Parks department will be on hand to share information regarding the incredible hiking/biking and water trail systems in our communities. The goal of the event is to promote bicycle safety while highlighting our incredible recreation assets.\n\n \n\nAccording to Kevin Wiesmann\, Director of Jefferson County Parks Department\, the Friends of Jefferson County Parks identified an opportunity to showcase the bike trail system through a fun family event. This event will help promote community health\, bike safety\, and to recognize all the amazing recreational opportunities our communities have to offer.\n\n \n\nFill up those bike tires\, get your glow sticks\, bike lights and other bicycle illuminations ready and register today!\n\n \n\nSaturday\, September 7\, 2024\n\n6:30 pm: Check-in (t-shirts\, helmets\, bike lights)\n\n7:30 pm: Lights On & Line up\n\n7:45 pm: Mass start\n\n8:45 pm: Anticipated Ride Completion\n\nFor more information or to register go to www.jeffersoncountywi.gov/park and sign up your entire family.
