HSJC Furry Friend 5K Run Walk
Join the race to help homeless pets by registering for the Humane Society of Jefferson County’s 11th Annual Furry Friends 5K Run/Walk. This family-friendly and dog-friendly event will take place on Saturday, May 18, at 9:00 a.m. at the Jefferson County Fair Park.
Registration is easy. Visit furryfriends5k.org/register to sign up on-line, or stop by the shelter to fill out a registration form. Registering early helps the Humane Society prepare for the event and also guarantees participants an awesome race day t-shirt and a swag bag full of goodies from the event sponsors. Register now for the early bird pricing of $30.00 for ages 14 and up and $20.00 for ages 13 and under. Early bird pricing ends Sunday, April 7. Price goes up $5 on Monday, April 8.
Hundreds of human participants and their canine companions have taken part in this race, providing our community with a healthy and fun event that gets bigger and better every year. The scenic, flat course ensures that first time walkers and runners can comfortably participate alongside more serious runners. Along with the race, the day will feature many area vendors, bobbing for tennis balls, food trucks, a 50/50 raffle, music, and a day of tail wagging fun!
But wait there is more. What is new this year? The HSJC is excited to announce the brand new KidK Obstacle Course. This obstacle course is geared towards children aged 1 to 6, but anyone can be a kid for the morning and join in the fun. Register for the FF5K and your kiddo for the KidK at the same time. The KidK will begin at 10:30, giving you plenty of time to finish your walk or run.
If you’re looking for a day filled with excitement, fun, fellowship and loads of tail wagging, then plan to take part in this year’s Furry Friends 5K on May 18. All proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Jefferson County, which has proudly served our community since 1922.
