About Us
The unique design of the Irvin L. Young Auditorium features a graciously appointed auditorium chamber with approximately 1,340 seats. Through lighting options and architectural arrangements, the auditorium can also achieve the feeling of warmth and comfortable intimacy of a much smaller space. The clean lines and uncluttered space of the chamber create an unpretentious performing environment. The 46’ proscenium opening reveals over 4,000 sq. ft. of stage in this state-of-the-art facility.
One of the many striking areas is the Fern Young Terrace which offers unparalleled charm guaranteed to enhance any event it houses. The facility’s Kachel Center, a multi-purpose room, offers flexibility with its sprung hardwood floor. Conferences will find the room appealing for groups up to 150 or as a space for small groups to meet before returning to the auditorium for larger sessions. Both the Fern Young Terrace and the Kachel Center can serve dual purposes as support spaces to compliment auditorium functions or as a versatile stand-alone meeting, rehearsal, or reception rooms.
Extended public areas provide for a variety of potential activity uses and boasts registration desks, concession areas, a gift shop, and a computerized ticket outlet.
Additional potential for auditorium usage exists due to the close proximity of the Center of the Arts. The two buildings are physically attached and functionally related. The Center of the Arts houses three smaller auditoriums, a variety or meeting rooms, the Crossman Art Gallery, and the relaxing atmosphere of a skylit atrium as well as Ticket Services Main Office.
