FCCU donates $100,000 to Irvin L. Young Memorial Library Capital Campaign

WHITEWATER, WI – Fort Community Credit Union (FCCU) donated $100,000 to the capital campaign for the Irvin L. Young Memorial Library. The goal of the campaign was to raise $2,250,000 to expand the library by 4,400 square feet and renovate the existing space. The renovation will include expanded early learner areas, teen spaces, collaboration and meeting rooms, additional accessibility and upgraded technology.
FCCU is dedicated to giving back to the communities they serve. Reflecting the mission, “To help our members be in a better financial position than when we met them,” FCCU makes contributions to organizations serving within the focus areas of education, community development, economic development, and health. The expansion and renovation of the Irvin L Young Memorial Library is a project that supports educational programming, our community, and economic development. “We are proud to donate to this project and support the growing needs of the Whitewater community,” said Sue Johnson, FCCU’s CEO and President.
“Fort Community Credit Union’s donation put our $2.25 million capital campaign over the top,” said Jim Winship, Chair of the Campaign Planning Committee. “Thanks to FCCU and the other generous individuals and businesses, Whitewater will have an expanded and transformed library, one with a greatly expanded area for young learners, a separate space for teens to meet and create a Makerspace with classes for individuals to craft things, and more meeting rooms and places for patrons to sit and read.”
The renovation is expected to begin July 22, 2024, with anticipated completion by October 2025.
