FCCU donates $250,000 to BASE's Capital Campaign
FORT ATKINSON, WI — Fort Community Credit Union is proud to announce a generous donation of $250,000 to the Badgerland Afterschool Enrichment Program (BASE) as part of its capital campaign to fund the remodeling of their new facility located at 1233 Janesville Ave. This significant contribution underscores FCCU’s commitment to the community by providing solutions for the growing childcare needs of their members and team members. The Badgerland Afterschool Enrichment Program provides critical afterschool services to children, focusing on academic support, enrichment activities, and social-emotional learning. The new facility will expand the program's capacity, allowing more children to benefit from its comprehensive offerings and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for their growth. “Investing in our youth is one of the most impactful ways we can strengthen our community,” said Sue Johnson, CEO of Fort Community Credit Union. “We are thrilled to support BASE’s mission and to be part of this transformative project that will have lasting effects on the lives of countless children and families.”
The capital campaign aims to raise $12.5 million to construct a state-of-the-art building and fund an endowment fund for ongoing operations. The facility will be equipped with licensed childcare classrooms, an art room, learning labs, STEM labs, a full commercial kitchen, cafeteria, administrative offices, a dedicated teen center with a cafe, a commons area, and a full middle school sized gym. The new space will enhance the ability of BASE to deliver high-quality, engaging after-school experiences that empower children to thrive academically and socially. “Fort Community Credit Union’s donation brings us one step closer to making our vision a reality,” said Alicia Norris, Executive Director of Badgerland Afterschool Enrichment Program. “We are incredibly grateful for their support and belief in our mission to provide enriching experiences for our youth. Together, we are building a brighter future for our community.” The groundbreaking for the new facility is slated for March and the program aims to host their 2025 Summer Program at the new facility and officially open its doors in September for the 2025-2026 school year. Community members and local businesses are encouraged to contribute to the campaign to help achieve its fundraising goals.
