FCCU to host Multi-Generational Family Finance Night

WHITEWATER, WI — Fort Community Credit Union (FCCU) is proud to partner with the Whitewater Public Library to host Multi-Gen Family Finance, a free, community workshop designed to help families understand how culture, emotions, and family dynamics influence financial decisions. 

The event will take place on Thursday, March 19 from 6:30-7:30 pm at Whitewater Public Library. Light refreshments and childcare will be provided for attendees by the FCCU team.  

This unique financial wellness program invites individuals and families of all generations to explore the cultural values that shape how they think about and manage money.  

Participants will learn how:

  • Traditions, family expectations, and emotional factors influence financial behaviors. 
  • Understanding the influences listed above can strengthen long-term financial stability.
  • Familismo and respeto guide financial choices across generations. 
  • To better understand the psychology of spending 
  • Pressures commonly experienced by first-generation individuals of Latin American descent influence financial decisions.  
  • To balance cultural expectations with practical financial planning. 
The workshop will be delivered in Spanish to ensure accessibility for the diverse families of the Whitewater community. In addition to being presented in Spanish, this event is created specifically for our Hispanic community members. As highlighted in the event materials, “La educación financiera no solo cambia vidas, cambia generaciones” which translates to, “Financial education doesn’t just change lives; it changes generations.”
