Jefferson County Sherriff's Office Launches JESO App

JEFFERSON, Wis. – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has launched its new JESO mobile app for those interested in information regarding public safety in the County. Anyone can download the JESO app for free via the App Store (for Apple devices) or Google Play (for Google Android devices).

“Technology has enabled us all to access news, critical updates, and data faster and easier than ever before,” said Jefferson County Sheriff Travis Maze. “We designed the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JESO) app to enhance our excellent quality of life by providing all of the public-safety information residents might need in one convenient resource.”

The JESO app provides detailed information regarding jail/inmate lists, outstanding warrants, sex offenders, and Sheriff Sales (foreclosures). These items change frequently, but the app allows users to access updated information with a couple of taps.

By enabling push notifications, JESO users can receive real-time alerts regarding weather conditions, road and traffic issues, and any active public-safety concerns relevant to Jefferson County residents. Push notifications are an essential benefit for law-enforcement apps due to their visibility and because they are quick, customizable, and actionable. Each of these attributes is valuable in sharing breaking news with a large audience.

Users gain access to a number of JESO app features to interact with the Sheriff’s Office. They can submit an anonymous tip, review open positions, and contact the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Maze noted that several tips have already been submitted through the app since its “soft launch” in late 2025.

Other JESO app features include civil process information, a snowmobile trail map, ATV/UTV rules, towing company contacts, access to crash reports (most reports are available within three days after a crash), and a portal to request several types of open records.

Public response has been very favorable. During the soft launch, the JESO app has averaged 30,000 interactions per week and completed 1,200 download requests. “Our early data show that individuals wanted an easier way to access information about our jail and inmate list. The app provides them with a pathway to that information, and citizens are utilizing it,” said Sheriff Maze.
