School District of Jefferson - English Teacher

Jefferson High School is looking for a dynamic, student-centered educator who has a passion for students and individualized student learning.  Applicants who have a demonstrated ability to connect and work proactively with families and colleagues are encouraged to apply.  We are seeking a professional who is committed to the district’s high goals and standards for academic and character development for all students.

The person serving in this position will teach high school English. This person will also meet with their teaching team to coordinate services and instruction to meet the needs of all learners.  Candidates with additional certifications, in Speech and Communication, bilingual abilities, and expertise in reading instruction are encouraged to apply.

Certification Required:  1300-English or 1301-Broad Field Language Arts. Other certifications encouraged to apply: 1310-Journalism, 1316-Reading Teacher, 1320-Speech Communications, and/or 1325-Theater.

Qualifications: Ability to provide quality instruction to students with a wide range of abilities.  The ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a professional learning community with students, staff, parents, and community members is vital. Preferred candidates will possess a thorough knowledge of their content area, demonstrate a passion to educate all students, have a sincere interest in young people, demonstrate a willingness to become an active contributor to the school culture and community, possess 21st century technology skills, and have a strong desire to excel as a professional educator. 

There are a variety of co-curricular vacancies and opportunities in athletics and activities at the high school (Football, Girls Basketball, Prom, and more).  Candidates with interest and/or experience in coaching and/or advising students in clubs are strongly encouraged to apply.
